BODYCHECKING CLINIC - BARRIE

PlayHard’s Bodychecking Clinic is designed specifically for player’s transitioning into their first year of body contact, (Rep - Minor Atom level). Topics covered will include balance and skating, angling, body position, body contact and bodychecking. In a controlled manner players will be instructed on the proper technique’s to both give and receive checks; with the ultimate goal to instil contact confidence within each player. Learning which check is appropriate for which situation is an important part of a player’s development; players will leave this clinic understanding the purpose for checking; to separate their opponent from the puck. Learning to check with confidence and respect will increase a players understanding and enjoyment of the game as well as introduce a level of safety for themselves and other players on the ice.

DEFENCE/FORWARD CLINIC - NOTTAWASAGA RESORT

Each class will begin with skating drills designed to benefit all players. Following that, our students will then be split into position specific groups;

Defensive students will work on balance, footwork and agility drills with instruction on individual tactics including body positioning and defensive zone coverage. Topics covered will include 1 on 1, 2 on 2, puck retrieval and effective communication with defensive partners.

Forwards will work on acceleration, agility and lateral movement. Shooting drills will develop accuracy and quick puck release. Students will be instructed on puck protection, puck control and individual tactics for 1 on 1, 2 on 2, etc.

Each class will end with our students getting back together to reinforce earlier position specific drills. Students will receive instruction and correction as they learn and perform skills in game style situations.

BOOT CAMP - BRADFORD

This week long program will focus on player conditioning, various skating disciplines and mental preparation necessary for the rigours of fast approaching tryouts. Players will be challenged physically to improve their conditioning levels via high tempo flow drills. WARNING!!! … This camp will not be for the weak of heart! PlayHard will demand the most from our players and will ultimately push players to their limits. To aid in player mental preparation, we will run drills that challenge our players to think while executing difficult technical tasks. Ultimately, we want your player – our students, to be the very best they can be in preparation for competitive level tryouts
